Leak detection tests will be valid in the following situations: Where the cause of the leak is not visible at the assessment on inspection stage. If you cannot attribute the damage to the reason supplied by the client. Either a manager, team manager or an assessor must authorise leak detection. The leak detection test must include one of the following methods:

– Moisture readings

– Dye testing

– Thermal image

– Waste-pipe testing

– Listening mode test (audio)

– Pressure pipe test where either gas or a correlator was used. You must compile a leak detection report. This report must include a breakdown of the repairs and digital photographs of the damage. If the proximate cause of the leak (for example rust) cannot be determined, the pipe should be exposed. As a result, this rate includes exposing pipes in walls, unpaved driveways or gardens. If exposing the pipe requires excavation, for example paved driveways, concrete pathways or floors, the leak detector may invoice for excavation as described under the plumbing section of this document. You are not allowed to charge a start-up fee for this section.
